About
Bet on this horse…
Dark Horse represents the potential power and world of possibilities that exists within all of us, just waiting to be seen and realized, the way black hides a whole rainbow spectrum of colours within.
Amanda Currie, a.k.a. Dark Horse Designs, is a designer/maker from Newmarket, Ontario.
She designs intuitively with clients, through the curation of gemstone energies and style inspired by the natural world to create original pieces that tell the story of their healing journey.
She is inspired by the wonders of the natural world and by connecting with Spirit through nature. Her work aims to help people to feel seen and understood as they grow through transformative experiences, realizing their own potential and reconnecting with the fullest expression of their true authentic self.
Making for mental health...
Connecting with our creativity helps us to be more resilient. In 2020, Currie co-founded an inclusive creating community to help fellow creatives navigate the feelings of isolation experienced during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns. Unstuck Studios hosts a variety of creative workshops which provide opportunities for people to connect with creativity for the benefit of wellbeing and the chance to work through difficulties in community with others, as well as a weekly online drop-in style open studio called Creating Club. www.unstuckstudios.ca
In an effort to share her gifts and help build community resilience, Currie participated in the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH)'s One Brave Night campaign from 2017 to 2019 by creating one-of-a-kind hemp bracelets with all proceeds donated to the campaign.
She continues this mission by leading a team in the new Sunrise Challenge initiative each year, since its inception in 2021, helping to raise awareness and funds for mental health resources at CAMH.
